It was our pleasure to spend this episode of Light Transitions Radio listening to and speaking with Alana Woods. Her work on sound healing is important in these times, as we all must focus on deep listening – and hearing the music of our own souls. We begin the interview with an excerpt from “A Familiar Room” on Alana’s CD “Music to Heal the Family Soul.”
Alana Woods has spent her life using her knowledge of music and sound (hearing inner music) to help her own life and to help others. She is classically trained in art and music. Her background includes playing piano music to heal herself as a child during the first twenty years of her life, plus intensive study with pioneers in the fields of music/healing/consciousness.
She evolved her own work, and in 1998, after spending a month in Greece teaching on an island and traveling, she had an experience in a Greek temple grounds that turned her focus to “prescriptive sound”, known in the world now as Music Medicine.
She has traveled and taught in Greece, Ireland and the U.S. Her background also includes a profession as a Unity Minister, Clinical Aromatherapist, and Certified Music Practitioner. A researcher, sound consultant, teacher and musician on harp for 35 years, she has also had a private practice as sound therapist, working with an acoustic sound table with different adverse populations of people, including a dying center, and mentally challenged children and adults. She has attended healing schools in this country and has journeyed to India for spiritual studies and initiations.
Alana is also a storyteller-harpist, telling “Musical Tales for the Inner Being”, tales of transformation, which is a healing art form for the “child within us all”. She has had a long time interest in pre-and perinatal psychology, development of babies before birth and early years of life, inspired from her own birth story.
Can we help each other heal? Is it possible to "meet-up" and achieve positive transformation? In this episode of Light Transitions Radio, we talk with Astara Cindy Wright, who has been guiding individuals in self-supporting healing spaces to empower their own energy systems.
Astara is a life long student of Esotericism, the study of the energetic structure of the universe and of man’s place within it. This interest was triggered by out-of-body experiences (OBE) and encounters with non-physical beings at age 14. While growing up, Cindy lacked teachers to explain her experiences. So, she began searching on her own to find the answers she needed. Her curiosity led to books by spiritual masters such as Seth, Robert Monroe, Ruth Montgomery, Jeanne Dixon, and Edgar Cayce among others. Their words laid the ground work in Cindy’s pursuit for understanding. Yet, she continued to struggle with how to integrate this knowledge into her daily life.
A shift occurred in 1998, when she became a Licensed Massage Therapist. This decision started her on a path as a healer. While focused on her profession, she continued to study shamanism, herbology, energy healing, and nonphysical dimensions.
In 2003, Cindy found her true passion in Donna Eden’s Energy Medicine (EM). This led her to participate in many EM workshops as a student and teaching assistant. Here she learned to clear and balance the energy systems in the body. In 2005, she found the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). EFT is a form of energy psychology connecting our energy system with our emotions and beliefs.
Integrating these methodologies, Cindy started teaching in earnest what she had learned. By teaching others, she recognized her gifts for healing and achieved a higher awareness of her own personal growth. She now uses these techniques on herself and teaches them in groups and private sessions. These workshops teach how to release negative emotions and limiting beliefs. She is passionate about her gifts and empowering others to use these self-healing tools in their own lives.

It was an honor to spend the latest hour of Light Transitions Radio with Liane Legey, the co-founder of the Humanity Healing Network.
Liane Legey is the cofounder of the Humanity Healing Network and is General Manager of and sits on the Board of Directors for Humanity Healing International. Liane’s professional life has been incredibly varied. She is an anthropologist and degreed Economist who has worked for the Brazilian State Commerce Department, was a bank auditor, a radio talk show personality and newspaper feature writer in Brazil, a prominent tarot reader and astrologer for the state of Bahia, Brazil, an organic farmer, and a Death Row minister. She is the mother to four children.
Born in Salvador, Brazil, the oldest daughter to an internationally known doctor and Professor of Medicine, Liane was raised in a very devout Catholic family and originally wanted to be a nun. As a young adult, she worked for the Jesuit Priests from CEAS (a Non-Profit organization) as an Economist and Project Manager developing Humanitarian and Social projects to raise the standard of living among the poor in Bahia, Brazil. With the Jesuits and others, Liane has studied extensively in religious matters and esoteric knowledge. Among others, she is a member of the Order of Saint Michael.
Shortly after Liane moved to America, she was the victim of a drunk driver and nearly lost her life. During the months she spent unable to move while her body mended, she made a commitment to God that if she recovered, she would complete the 14 Acts of Mercy. The Acts of Mercy are actions and practices which the Catholic Church considers expectations to be fulfilled by believers, based on the Sermon of the Mountain and the Beatitudes (please see the House of Faith for a description of the 14 Acts of Mercy).
Under the nom de plume of Butterflygris, Liane became popular on YouTube for the creation of many educational and inspirational videos.
The last two of the 14 Acts of Mercy Liane completed were the Consolation of the Doubtful and the Comfort of the Sorrowful. These took the form of an inspirational Myspace page dedicated to Random Acts of Kindness. She did this not under her own name, but under the name RaK because it was the message and not her name she wanted to share herself. The site became very well known and topped 17,000 friends in the first year. It was through Myspace that she met Christopher Buck and together created Humanity Healing based on the concept of a multifaceted approach to healing by combining alternative healing modalities with spiritual growth and counseling.
“The survival of the fittest will one day be replaced by the flourishing of the most cooperative” ~~Bird Tribes, Native American
In this episode of Light Transitions Radio, we explore the cooperative spirit behind Next World TV, with it’s creator Bibi Farber.
An online video “magazine” that has grown to nearly 6,000 subscribers in its first 6 months, Next World TV builds awareness about moving toward a more self- sufficient and empowered, healthy and sustainable life. The site aims to give voice to a new dialogue involving how we think about food, time, work, money and community video.
The site is produced by Bibi Farber, a pop/rock singer/ songwriter/ guitarist from New York City. Growing up partially in Sweden, Bibi learned about “sustainability” simply by being in a culture that does not live as wastefully as the United States, where deeply held traditions of respect for nature and resources are not overwritten by a grotesque consumer culture.
In 2008 she became fascinated with the predicament of Peak Oil. The deeper message that “the era of growth is over” resonated deeply. Whether or not there are oil reserves that we can expend tremendous amounts of energy to extract are in the ground or not is beside the point to her: the cheap easy oil we based our entire economy, food systems and living arrangements – all the necessities of modern life — is soon to be gone forever.
She came away from her explorations of the topic with the sense that there needed to be a broader conversation on the issue. Shortly thereafter, the creator of BrasscheckTV handed her the keys to start Next World TV under the same umbrella. He gave one directive: it should all be about SOLUTIONS. Alternative energy, food choices, natural building, eco- villages, permaculture — find video content about constructive initiatives that deserve attention.”
She is thrilled and inspired by the surprising success of something she thought would mostly appeal to a fringe group of people.
Seeing first hand the explosion in demand for new ways of doing things and new ways of thinking about our culture prompted her to write the songs “The World Is Waking Up Right Now” and “Global Climate Change In All Our Hearts” available for download in June of 2011 (contact bibifarber@earthlink.net)
Bibi’s music has been heavily licensed in TV shows, over 300 uses to date, as well as national commercials, including Kodak and a Sopranos promo on A&E. Listen to more of her work at at www.bibifarber.com.
